SAN ANTONIO, TX, January 9, 2023- As You Are, a virtual clinic dramatically increasing access to early autism diagnostic services, has named Dr. Steve Hicks, MD, PhD, to be its Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Hicks is an Associate Professor of Academic General Pediatrics at Pennsylvania State College of Medicine in Hershey, PA.
He is a physician scientist who has served the Central Pennsylvania community as a general pediatrician since 2015, performing well-child check-ups, sick visits, and developmental evaluations. His clinical focus is on the early, and accurate diagnosis of autism. Dr. Hicks’ interest in autism stems from his PhD training in neurogenetics. As a physician scientist, he studies the influence of genetics and the environment on pediatric diseases involving growth and neurodevelopment.
Hicks said, “I am thrilled to join the dedicated ‘As You Are’ team in their effort to improve the wellbeing of children. ‘As Your Are’ has enormous potential to positively impact child health.”
He has been awarded the Outstanding Early Faculty Career Development Award from the National Association for Clinical and Translational Science, and the Distinguished Early Stage Investigator Award from the Penn State College of Medicine. Dr. Hicks has published over 50 articles in peer reviewed journals, including JAMA Pediatrics and Clinical and Translational Medicine.
