LEE’S SUMMIT, MISSOURI – When Mikiah Wolff heard about the wait times in her area for autism evaluations, she worried her 2-year-old son, Ezekiel, would have to wait a long time before being seen. Mikiah’s mom has a background in working with individuals with autism and currently teaches kindergarten, and she told Mikiah that some kids were sitting on 2-year waitlists. “I have some health issues, so it’s difficult to travel and take all three of my kids anywhere,” Mikiah said. “The virtual option was really intriguing. In about a month’s time, Ezekiel was diagnosed with autism and is now able to access the care he needs. Mikiah felt hopeful after receiving the results.
She said, “There was a sense of relief because now we can get him services to help him with social behaviors and sensory stuff.”

She said, “I didn’t feel any ounce of discouragement or judgment. I felt very much supported.”
